Rescue Diver

Enjoy the challenge of one of PADI’s most rewarding and greatest confidence-building courses as you become a certified PADI Rescue Diver in Roatan. This is a PADI certification course that some might say is “serious fun.” And will develop you to not only be a safer diver, but to be a better dive buddy as you learn how to prevent and manage dive-related emergencies.

Step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself to an experience that will make you mentally and physically stronger as a diver. Sharpen your senses, your knowledge and your diving techniques.

What you’ll learn

In the PADI Rescue Diver course, you will learn how to safely and confidently manage the following situations:

  • Self-rescue situations such as cramp release, using an alternate air source, overcoming vertigo and reestablishing sense of direction
  • Assisting a tired diver at the surface
  • Assisting a responsive diver in distress both underwater and at the surface from the shore, boat or dock
  • Rescuing a panicked diver
  • Quickly and efficiently searching for a missing diver
  • Surfacing an unresponsive diver from under water and performing rescue procedures at the surface
  • Administering first aid and emergency oxygen

As a prerequisite to the PADI Divemaster certification, when you become a PADI Rescue Diver, you’ll climb one step closer to the world of professional diving.

Before you start your training

To become a PADI Rescue Diver, you must have completed Emergency First Response Primary & Secondary Care – or an equivalent CPR training course. You also need to have your Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water diver certification, with the latter recommended.

If you want to get a glimpse of what the Rescue Diver course is like, you can choose to do a Rescue Adventure dive as part of your Advanced Open Water or Adventure Diver course.

There are two ways to approach the Knowledge Development portion of the program:
